Social Media Policy

The Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce (“GCCC”) understands the importance of the Internet in raising awareness and shaping the image of our services, partners and members. The GCCC recognizes the importance of our employees and board members joining in to help shape industry conversation and direction through activities such as blogging and participation in social media platforms.

Consistent with its commitment to represent the organization responsibly through traditional, hard copy mediums, the GCCC is committed to interacting as responsibly and knowledgeably and possible through these on-line mediums as well. This includes (but is not limited to) social networking platforms, blogs, web sites, video and/or picture sharing sites, postings on wikis or other interactive sites elsewhere on the Internet.

Guidelines for Professional Interaction

  • Representation: The Executive Director is authorized to officially represent the GCCC in the development, promotion or participation of a web site, blog or other online platform that promotes The Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce. While Executive Director may delegate aspects of this work to others, s/he is ultimately accountable for the representation.

  • Current Policies: Current by laws, confidentiality agreements, policies, procedures, practices and general guidelines governing the protection of confidential & proprietary information, disparagement and other related matters under traditional methods of communication remain in full force for online interactions.

  • Administration & Monitoring: Executive Director will administer sites, blogs and/or other online platforms that represent the GCCC. Where feasible, protections will be put in place to oversee group admittance and to reduce risk overall. While every effort will be undertaken to ensure the responsible exchange of on-line information, we cannot prevent with 100% certainty unanticipated and/or unflattering communications will occur. Therefore, sites, blogs and/or other online platforms representing the GCCC will be regularly monitored. Posts seen as detrimental to the GCCC and/or its members will be deleted as appropriate.

  • Media Contacts: Media inquiries regarding the GCCC will be handled by the Executive Director or (in his / her absence) the Board Chair.

Guidelines for Personal Interaction

  • Representation: Unless otherwise authorized by the Board of Directors or its delegated representatives, individuals are not authorized to officially speak on behalf of the GCCC. If you are developing, promoting or participating in a personal web site, blog or other online platform that mentions the GCCC and/or its programs, services, employees, members, partners or competitors, it is crucial to explicitly state views represented are yours alone and not representative of the GCCC.

  • Current Policies: Current by laws, confidentiality agreements, policies, procedures, practices and general guidelines governing the protection of confidential & proprietary information, disparagement and other related matters under traditional methods of communication remain in full force for online interactions.

  • Media Contacts: Media inquiries regarding the GCCC should be referred to the Executive Director or (in his / her absence) the Board Chair.

Policy Violations

Employees, members and board members can be disciplined (up to and including termination of employment /membership / tenure respectively) for commentary, content, or images that are defamatory, pornographic, proprietary, harassing, libelous, or that can create a hostile work environment.
